Many recruiters use Automated Tracking Systems to help them narrow down the initial pile of resumes they receive. This software analyzes each resume and gives it a score based on preset keywords.
To pass this first stage, make sure that you research the job you are applying for and write down the keywords and terms that are relevant to it. You’ll then want to use these keywords as a guideline for your resume’s content.
However, make sure that each time you use the keyword in your resume, it fits and makes sense. Your resume should flow, so if you place random keywords throughout it just so that you can get past the software scan, the recruiter will notice and will disregard your resume.
Use the keywords as a guideline to help you tailor your resume to the job you are applying for.
